A new reality!

A year ago today we arrived back to Canada as a new family. In lots of ways, for a very long time after that, it still felt surreal...still part of the adventure, with the adrenaline still pushing us full steam ahead. We had survived so many highs and lows during the last 3 years...asking oursevles whether we were kidding ourselves, would this really ever happen, facing deep loss and sadness after our first trip, then quickly switching gears to fully embrace the wonders of a cold siberian winter and more importantly, FINALLY meeting the newest memeber of our family. The first year marked so many firsts... and, in lots of ways, really meant getting to know each other. Now a year later, it feels so good to have settled in our new reality as a family of four! Life is back to normal, but that's not so bad. After such an emotional adoption journey, it just feels SO nice to take a deep breath and enjoy this new journey... as a family!

Happy One Year Home Day!! Not sure which day you celebrate as your Adoption Day but for us it is the day that we arrived back in Ireland because we had a little 7yr old here in Ireland waiting to meet her little Kazakh sister!

Your two little ones look so alike... Are you told that all the time?

Wow - I can't believe it's been a year. I followed both of your journeys to Kazakhstan but I still can't believe she's adopted. Not because of all that you went through but because she looks SO much like you all!! I'll bet no one even asks if she's adopted. It really is uncanny.

Happy First Year together! I hope next year is even better.
